ANCIENT TECHNOLOGY

In ancient times, before the invention of LCD and LED, Nixie Tubes were used as the displays. Technology was developed for the army and industry in the middle of the last century and for several decades was used everywhere where displays were needed, starting from calculators, through stock exchange, ending on nuclear power plants.

In the end of the day, nixie tubes have been supplanted by modern solutions. But, have not fallen into oblivion.

BACK TO THE FUTURE

Nixie Tubes have survived despite the turbulent history and nowadays they reached a true renaissance. A new era of nixie began in 2012 when Dalibor Farny started the production of nixie tubes again. Today, nixie tubes are mainly used to build beautiful clocks. As I’m fascinated by nixies, I decided to add some ideas to what else you can do with nixie tubes.
